The Order of the Teachers of the
Children of God was founded in
Providence, Rhode Island, December 1, 1935, by Abbie Loveland Tuller, Ph.D. The community was founded for women who desire to live the religious life, combined with the work of teaching, or who desire through other activities to further the work of education and religious instruction throughout the church.

Our purpose is to develop, through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the fruits
of the spirit—especially faith, love and joy—and to provide a Christian
community in which sisters and children may live together, learning to
know, love and serve God and their fellow men; such is the spiritual
purpose of the Teachers of the Children of God.

The prayer life of the community stresses devotion to our Lord in the
blessed sacrament through communion. The Divine Office from the
Monastic Diurnal are also offered each day. The goal of the order is to
train their sisters so that they can maintain their relationship to God in
the world by being contemplatives in action. Therefore, each sister has an
individual rule of life designed to fulfill her spiritual need and develop her spiritual potentiality. Upon making their professions, the sisters take the three monastic vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. The order also offers associate vows for women that do not want to be fully professed.

The work of the community is the conducting of its own private day
schools. At the present time the order operates two day schools. We
offer to women anywhere who desire to find a useful and stimulating
occupation in the field of teaching a thrilling, creative life of
adventure and love for our Lord and other phases of educational work
within the church.

Mission Statement
The Abbie Loveland Tuller School promotes development from
childhood to responsible adulthood in an atmosphere that not only
combines growth in the Christian faith with a firm grounding in high quality academics, but also enables each child to develop at his or her
own pace. This atmosphere will permit children to grow into wellbalanced, well-adjusted adults who are emotionally self-respecting,
economically self-sufficient, and able to contribute to a society that
includes all of mankind.
